Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair in “Shaggy Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms”

چکیده

A single-center, retrospective, cohort study was performed from January 2005 to May 2019. Of 391 patients evaluated for thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), 9 (2%) had shaggy aneurysms, defined as an ulcerated atheroma or thrombus thickness ≥5 mm protruding into the lumen and/or occupying more than two thirds of circumference on computed tomography angiography. Two nine presented with blue toe syndrome. seven who undergone TEVAR, embolization occurred in one patient (transient ischemic attack and acute kidney injury) possibly another developed spinal cord ischemia. The risk atheroembolism aneurysm is a threatening complication but TEVAR proved effective.

Endovascular repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms.

A thoracic aortic aneurysm is a potentially life-threatening condition that involves a structural weakness of the aortic wall, which can lead to aneurysm, rupture, or dissection. Optimal treatment strategies for lesions of the thoracic aorta are still controversial. Open surgery is complex and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Endovascular stenting has emerged as an altern...

Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (TEVAR) for Ruptured Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms

Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms (rDTAA) remains a challenging surgical undertaking. Although rupture is rare, when it occurs it is often a lethal event. Traditionally the standard of repair for rDTAA has been open surgical repair requiring thoracotomy, aortic cross-clamping, and cardiopulmonary bypass. However, while the standard, these open procedures are accompanied by...

Long-term survival after open repair and thoracic endovascular aortic repair for descending thoracic aortic aneurysms.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for descending thoracic aortic aneurysms (DTAs) was first reported by Dake et al1 in 1994. The advent of TEVAR was clinically relevant because open DTA repair had long been associated with operative mortality rates ranging from 5% to 7% at centers of excellence2,3 to as high as 20% to 22% in real-world practice.4,5 The favorable results6 of TEVAR with...

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair for thoracic aortic mobile thrombus

Thoracic aortic mobile thrombus is a rare and significant source of peripheral, visceral, as well as cerebral emboli. A 51-year-old female with a history of emergency left brachial artery embolectomy 5 months previously was referred to our unit for evaluation of a mobile thrombus in the descending thoracic aorta. We describe the successful primary treatment of a symptomatic mobile thrombus in t...
